QR Codes in the Library Setting

• September 22, 2010 • Comments (1)

A few days ago I discussed the emergence of QR codes in marketing formats. In America they are most commonly showing up in magazines to promote events, films, and products. Overseas QR codes have become an active part of many markets. Japan and Australia are just a few of the more common. Intrigued by this concept, I have begun to explore the functionality of the QR code in the educational setting. Are Instructional Technologists experimenting with this tool? Do they have any established uses within the classroom?

As I researched I found that most of the teachers and schools that utilized this tool were not American.  I did discover a great (now favorite) Aussie educator who uses a great deal of emergent technology with his physcial science students. Here is my new favorite Aussie demonstrating a basic use for QR codes within the library setting.
